Myths vs. Facts About Root Canal Treatment
"Root canal treatment is terribly painful."
Incorrect. With modern local anesthesia, patients feel no pain during treatment.
"It is better to pull a tooth than to treat it."
Incorrect. Nothing can fully replace your natural tooth. Saving a tooth through endodontics is always safer, biologically preferable, and more cost-effective than extraction and subsequent implant or bridge placement.
"A treated root canal tooth breaks quickly afterwards."
Partially true, but only if left unprotected. A treated tooth loses internal nourishment and becomes more brittle. That is why in our clinic, following endodontic treatment, we emphasize proper restoration (filling or crown) to restore strength and prevent fracture.
